Alpsee Circular Trail

The Alpsee is the clearest water in Schwangau and was the favourite lake of King Ludwig II. The hike starts at the Alpsee parking place on the Fürstenstrasse in the direction of Hohenschwangau castle or Austria. At the roundabout, turn left and continue the path straight ahead. The Pindarplatz on the left offers a great view of the Neuschwanstein Castle and the Museum of the Bavarian Kings. Walk alittle ahead, keep left and take the narrow path around the lake off the tarred road until you reach a clearing where the Marien monument stands. It's a good place to rest, relax and enjoy the view. Then continue the walk towards Alpseebad, where you will experience passing rocks and footbridges along the way. Now it's not far from the starting point.
